Firstly I’d like to thank Norway for producing people that produce the Norwegian Black Metal.
My first (and admittedly, only) experience with Slagmaur is their Drummer of Tedworth song off the Thill Smitts Terror album popping up on a random playlist on the Spotify. Impressive. Maybe I should have explored them more but I get distracted bny shiny things way too often
Just had my first listen to Slagmaur’s single Ritual Dogs. Makes me look forward to the rest of the album and indeed look forward to listening to Thill Smitts Terror in its entirety….finally. Hey maybe even the rest of their discography which wouldn’t be a difficult thing for me I’m sure.
It’s not hard for me to be drawn in to this latest single the drums and tremolo picking. I’m a sucker for tremolo like I’m a sucker for a big fat, messy chocolate mud cake. The pace of the track brings to mind a million zombies riding into battle on backs of Griffins over a field of permafrost. It does take a short break in the middle so the zombies can wipe their enemies’ guts off their swords but soon continues the charge until the battle is done.
Summary: If you want to feel frigid blasts of black metal deep down in your colon then this is the song for you.
The Ritual Dogs single is off the forthcoming album Hulders Ritualet, out on April 3 2022.
